    Policy Statement

    Adelphi University is committed to ensuring that it delivers excellent academic, student and professional support services at all times. The University will, if necessary, use temporary agency workers to help to fulfill demands and maintain the highest standards of internal and external service.


    Reason for Policy

    This policy outlines the guidelines relating to the use of temporary agencies on Adelphi’s campus and in university facilities.

    Policy

    The use of temporary personnel will only be authorized in the case of extenuating circumstances, may only be authorized by the appropriate Executive Leadership member and ordered through the Office of Human Resources. All inquiries from temporary personnel agencies must be referred to the Office of Human Resources.


    Definitions

    This policy does not have definitions associated with it at this time. Upon periodic policy review this area will be evaluated to determine if additional information is needed to supplement the policy.


    Procedures

    The Office of Human Resources will work with any department/school that demonstrates the need for temporary help due to illness/peak period demands that cannot be covered through other internal means within the school/department requesting the temporary help. Human Resources will first explore all internal resources to alleviate the shortage and, if none are available, may coordinate the ordering of temporary personnel from outside agencies if the budget permits and approval from the appropriate Executive Leadership member is given.

    Human Resources will process the necessary paperwork to pay the temporary employees.
