    Policy Statement 

    Adelphi University is committed to providing a safe learning and working environment for its students, faculty and staff. Therefore, the University will conduct pre-employment background investigations on all individuals for whom employment is to be tendered.


    Reason for Policy

    This policy supports the university’s efforts to minimize institutional risk, provide a safe environment, and assist hiring authorities in making sound hiring decisions.

    Faculty and Staff


    Policy

    All employment verifications, reference requests and other third party requests for information about current or former employees must be completed by the Office of Human Resources.

    All employment verifications or requests must be forwarded to the Office of Human Resources.  The Office of Human Resources will only verify dates of employment and the last (current) job title held.  Salary verification will only be provided for financially-related matters – mortgages, apartment complexes, etc.  No information will be provided to any source without written approval from the employee (with the exception of subpoenaed information), unless such disclosure is required by law.
